چکیده

Background Lipid transfer proteins (LTP) are considered true food allergens because sensitization takes place in the gastrointestinal tract, in contrast with other food allergens like profilins or Bet v 1-homologues, where sensitization is a consequence of an allergic sensitization to inhaled allergens. Although allergy to peach LTP (pru p 3) is frequently associated to sensitization to plane tree pollen LTP (Pla a 3) and/or mugwort LTP (Art v 3), it has never been elucidated if this cross-reactivity could lead to a respiratory allergy. The aim of this study is to demonstrate that a LTP-dependent food allergy with the adequate exposure can induce a LTP-dependent respiratory allergy.

Severe peach allergy in patients non-sensitized to Pru p 3

Background Allergy to Rosaceae is the fourth leading cause of food allergy in children in France. Typically, in Northern Europe, there is a prior sensitization to birch, through a PR-10 protein, while in Southern Europe the allergy is often preceded by a sensitization to a Lipid Transfer Protein (LTP). In Spain it is often recorded as a subsequent sensitization to apple (cross-reaction between ...

Lettuce Allergy Is a Lipid Transfer Syndrome-Related Food Allergy With a High Risk of Severe Reactions.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Lipid transfer protein (LTP) sensitization is the most common cause of food allergy in the Mediterranean area, with peach allergy acting as the primary sensitizer in most cases. Lettuce has been described as a common offending food in patients with LTP syndrome. The aim of the study was to investigate the frequency and clinical expression of LTP syndrome in a sample of ...

Hypoallergenic allergen derivatives of Pru p 3 for immunotherapy of IgE-mediated peach allergy

Background IgE-mediated allergy to peach represents a frequent cause of severe anaphylactic reactions in Mediterranean countries. Pru p 3, a nonspecific lipid transfer protein (LTP) from peach, was identified as an important elicitor of IgEmediated food hypersensitivity reactions to peach. Specific immunotherapy is currently the only allergen-specific and disease-modifying treatment of allergie...
